Man jailed for stabbing his victim in the back

A man who stabbed his “enemy” in the back has been jailed for two years after he agreed to spend a further two years on probation.

Belfast Crown Court heard that before the incidenton July 5 2008, there was already “bad feeling” between 21-year-old Michael Anthony Loughran and his victim Conall McPhillips.

Prosecuting lawyer Philip Henry told the court the pair had both been drinking separately with friends in the Devenish Arms when they came to blows and door staff “ejected them”.

Their paths crossed again later in the night and Loughran produced a knife, stabbing his foe in the back.
