Man on trial over sexual images and 'incitement'

An Omagh man is to stand trial on 28 charges relating to indecent images and sexual communication with children.

Robert McClarnon (34), of Campsie Avenue, appeared at Dungannon Crown Court where he was charged with 22 counts of possessing indecent images.

Other charges include sexual communication with a child, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and causing a child to watch sexual activity.

Four of the indecent image charges relate to December 2010, with the remainder dating between 2014 and 2016.

The offences alleging child engagement through communication and inciting activity for sexual gratification involve two complainants and relate to dates between June and October 2016.

McClarnon denies the charges.

Judge Stephen Fowler ruled a trial date to be fixed next month.

He remanded McClarnon on £500 bail and ordered no contact with the injured parties or any person aged under 18.
