Close friends of Gerry Ryan believe he died after suffering a massive heart attack and that there is “no great mystery” involved in his death.
But a source close to the Ryans said they would wait for the results of a post-mortem and the outcome of toxicology tests to learn what killed the 53-year-old RTE presenter.
The radio and TV presenter was discovered dead at his apartment in Upper Leeson Street in Dublin on April 30.
Preliminary toxicology indications are that Ryan reportedly had traces of alcohol in his system.
Meanwhile, members of Mr Ryan's family are expected to pick up an honorary lifetime achievement award on his behalf at the TV Now Awards this Saturday.
