Nesbitt finds his voice after all

Mike Nesbitt of the Ulster Unionist Party also seemed to have taken a vow of silence at the count yesterday - and it's not hard to understand why.

Sporting a tasteful Ulster Rugby fleece jacket, Mr Nesbitt left the Strangford venue refusing to speak to the media about his party's less than stellar performance at the poll.

However, the former newsreader later had a change of heart and called a press conference at a Belfast Hotel at which he announced his decision to resign as the party's leader - becoming the first leadership casualty of the election.
