UUP's Tom Elliott slams anti-Semitic graffiti on Trump poster in Tyrone

By Cate McCurry

Ulster Unionist MP Tom Elliott has hit out at racists who defaced an anti-Donald Trump poster in Co Tyrone.

The racial slur was written on a poster that was erected on a lamppost in Dungannon town centre.

The poster reading 'Stop Trump: people power can beat his bigoted agenda' was scrawled over in pen with the racist message 'Shut up, Jews'.

The Fermanagh and South Tyrone MP condemned those behind the anti-Semitic graffiti. "Anti-Semitism has no place in our society," he said.

"The person or persons responsible for this graffiti do not represent the majority of people in this constituency.

"Targeting any minority is wrong and should be fully condemned.

"The poster, as I understand it, was located on a lamppost in Scotch Street, Dungannon.

"I have reported this poster and the graffiti to Mid Ulster Council, who have said they will investigate."
