£10 scratch card leads to £1m win on lottery

A mystery lottery player from Co Tyrone is thought to be celebrating a £1m win on a scratch card.

The mysterious Coalisland native is believed to be laying low to avoid attracting any attention.

It's understood they won the life-changing sum after buying a £10 scratch card.

A spokeswoman for the National Lottery said nobody had approached its staff yet, and she couldn't confirm or deny any win.

Staff at the small convenience store where the winning scratch card was said to have been purchased refused to comment other than to say they were not aware of any big winners coming forward.

Lottery players from across Northern Ireland have enjoyed a number of big wins in the past.

In 1996 Belfast entrepreneur Peter Lavery, a former bus driver, won more than £10m.

And in 2004, Belfast woman Iris Jeffrey became the UK's biggest single lottery winner, taking home an eye watering £20.1m.
