105-year-old Isobel Foster marks special day

By Staff Reporter

A woman who has celebrated her 105th birthday says keeping the mind active is the secret to a long and healthy life.

Isobel Foster was born in 1913 in Ballyrashane - a year after Titanic sank on her maiden voyage and a year before the Great War broke out.

She has previously lived in South Africa and Argentina with her late husband, a church minister,

Isobel, who has been a resident in Killowen House, Coleraine, since 2002, marked her day with a visit from Joan Baird, the mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Afterwards Ms Baird said: "It was a privilege to visit Isobel and be part of her celebrations.

"I want to commend the staff at Killowen House for their care and attention of Isobel and all the residents that live there.

"Milestones like this one are rare, therefore it is incredibly important to celebrate."
