15-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Newry attack

A 15-year-old boy and 24-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an assault in Newry.

The assault took place in the Cleary Crescent area in the early hours of Wednesday.

Both men remain in police custody.

A 17-year-old male appeared at Newry Magistrates Court on Thursday in connection with the incident, while a 29-year-old man arrested was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police enquiries into the assault are continuing and they would ask anyone with any information in relation to the incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 21 29/5/19.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
