16,000 get new boiler grants
The Housing Executive has approved more than 16,000 grants to replace old inefficient heating boilers.
Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland said the Boiler Replacement Scheme had been a huge success since its launch in September 2012.
It aims to assist 24,000 owner occupied households to replace their old inefficient boiler with a new energy efficient 'A' rated condensing boiler over a three-year period.
Siobhan McCauley, Housing Executive director of regional services, said: "Since it began in September 2012, we have approved over 16,000 grants to homeowners and more than 11,300 boilers have been replaced.
"The grants help replace inefficient heating boilers over 15 years old with energy efficient condensing oil or gas boilers; switching from oil to gas; or switching to a wood pellet boiler."
