£200k cocaine haul found during searches as part of East Belfast UVF investigation

Suspected cocaine with a street value of £200k has been seized during searches in east Belfast on Friday.

Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF) have also arrested three men as part of an ongoing investigation into drugs criminality linked to the East Belfast UVF.

The three – aged 41, 55 and 64 – were arrested after a quantity of cocaine, with an estimated street value of approximately £200,000, was seized along with a sum of cash.

Two of the men – aged 41 and 64 – were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A controlled drug.

The 55-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled drug and possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply.

Detective Inspector Maguire said: “This is a substantial and significant seizure of harmful Class A drugs, which have now been safely removed from our streets and community.

“It demonstrates the PCTF’s ongoing commitment to safeguard local people, and to tackle the supply, use and harrowing consequences of illegal drugs.
