50 cannabis plants discovered following community tip-off
A 26-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of 50 cannabis plants in Co Antrim.
The drugs were found following a drug seizure at a house in Townhead Street, Ballymoney on Tuesday.
Police searched the property after recieving intelligence provided by the local community.
Around 50 cannabis plants, and a further quantity of cannabis were seized along with various other drug-related paraphernalia.
The 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession and cultivating cannabis, as well as being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, and is currently in police custody assisting with police enquiries.
“Tackling the illegal supply and use of drugs is a priority for police and seizures such as this demonstrate our ongoing commitment to tackling the scourge of drugs in our society," Inspector Colin Shaw said.
"I would encourage anyone who has any information about the use or supply of illegal drugs to contact police on the non-emergency number 101 with any information they have.
"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
