60 firefighters tackle forest fire in Newcastle
Dozens of firefighters are dealing with with a large forest fire in Newcastle.
Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service said it received a large number of calls about the blaze in the Drinnahilly Mountain area close to Tollymore Forest park.
The incident has affected approximately 8-10 acres of wildfire materials
A total of 8 pumping appliances and four specialist appliances with 60 firefighters and specialist wildfire officers have been engaged in firefighting operations.
The fire has been contained but crew have withdrawn from the area due to night-fall and potential danger to firefighters.
A small number of firefighters will remain at the scene overnight to monitor the situation.
NIFRS said operations will be scaled back up at first light on Thursday morning.
Firefighting operations are likely to continue throughout the day tomorrow.
