£80,000 wedding cake billed to Quinn company
The €100,000 (£80,000) bill for the cake at the wedding of Ciara Quinn, the daughter of former billionaire Sean Quinn, was charged to the Quinn Group, it has emerged.
The cake, flown in from New York for the November 2007 marriage between Ms Quinn and solicitor Niall McPartland, is possibly the most expensive ever purchased in Irish history.
At the time of the wedding Fermanagh-born Quinn was, according to Forbes magazine, the richest man in the country with a fortune put at around £4bn.
The black-tie and evening dress affair where the cake was unveiled was attended by 400 guests — putting the cost of a slice at an estimated €250 (£198).
The cost of the wedding was charged to a subsidiary of the Quinn Group in the same way the August 2010 wedding of another daughter Aoife Quinn to solicitor Stephen Kelly was.
