Holywood golfer Rory McIlroy has emerged as one of the richest people under 30 in the UK.
The Sunday Times published its annual Rich List yesterday, which revealed Rory was the richest young sportsperson and the seventh richest person under the age of 30 in the UK, with a personal fortune of £82m. His wealth is up on last year when it was estimated at £56m.
Newly wed Rory was just ahead of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe (£78m) in the young people's list, tennis player Sir Andy Murray (£77m) and Real Madrid footballer Gareth Bale (£54m).
Lady Ballyedmond, the widow of the late pharmaceuticals entrepreneur Lord Ballyedmond, was named the wealthiest in Northern Ireland, and the 16th richest woman in the UK, with a fortune of £1.42bn. Published annually, the Sunday Times Rich List is a veritable who's-who of the UK's entrepreneurial class.
