Health workers who put their lives at risk during the Covid-19 pandemic have been paid as little as £90 in recognition of their efforts, it has emerged.

One employee described the special recognition payment as a “kick in the teeth”, while Kevin McAdam of public service union Unite branded the development “disgusting”.
