A man was arrested yesterday afternoon after a lorry shed the portable building it was carrying through Armagh city centre.

Another man, the passenger in a car that was overturned in the incident, was taken to hospital by ambulance following the crash at Russell Street near The Mall shortly after midday.

Two ambulance crews and the air ambulance were sent to the scene.

Firefighters also attended the accident.

SDLP MLA Justin McNulty thanked emergency services.

"Praying everyone will be OK and feeling thankful for our brave paramedics and firemen," he said.

Police remained at the scene of the crash into the late afternoon and The Mall was closed as officers dealt with the collision.

Drivers were advised to find an alternative route for their journey.
