Accused 'attacked victim in his bed'

A plumber has been remanded in custody accused of attacking a man in his bed.

Appearing at a special sitting of Newry Magistrates Court, 38-year-old Anthony John Peter McKay spoke only to confirm that he understood the charges against him.

McKay, from Linen Court, Linenhall Street in Armagh, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Michael Burns and possessing a weapon, namely a bottle, last Friday. The victim is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No bail application was lodged and McKay was remanded into custody and will appear again via video-link on January 15.
