A man stopped in a car stolen along with £50,000 worth of jewellery in a house raid claimed he had just bought the vehicle for £100, the High Court heard.
Dean Hutchinson was recorded as nearly twice over the drink-driving limit when police in Belfast found him behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla valued at £5,000, prosecutors said.
Hutchinson (22), of Belair Street, Belfast, faces charges of driving while disqualified with no insurance and drink-driving.
The car was taken during a house burglary on November 4.
There is no evidence linking Hutchinson to the burglary, Mr Justice Horner was told.
Hutchinson was refused bail due to the risk of any further offences being committed.
