Accused guilty of sex assault

A Londonderry man due to go on trial for intentionally touching a woman in a sexual manner without her consent has pleaded guilty to the charge.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty at the city's Crown Court to the offence carried out two years ago.

Sean Patrick McFadden, of Ederowen Park, was to have gone on trial yesterday charged with committing the offence on February 4, 2011.

However, he asked to be rearraigned on the offence before Judge Piers Grant and then pleaded guilty to the offence.

McFadden's defence barrister told Judge Grant that there was an agreed statement of facts in the case which would be signed by the defendant.

He was released on continuing bail and he'll be sentenced for the offence on April 11 following the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
