A 19-year-old Co Down man sent images of himself in women's underwear to two schoolgirls he had just met online, a court heard yesterday.

Matthew Maguire is accused of using Snapchat to show the photos to the pair, both aged 13. Maguire, of Castlewellan Road in Newcastle, is charged with two counts of sexual communication with a child on July 17.

Downpatrick Magistrates Court, sitting in Belfast, heard Maguire began by sending photos of undisclosed objects.

A detective claimed: "It progressed to sending images of himself wearing women's underwear. It was very revealing, his genitals were visible."

But a defence solicitor said no genitalia was visible.

Bail was granted on condition that Maguire lives under his parents' supervision. He is due to appear in court again next month.
