Accused's bail won't be relaxed

A District Judge has refused to relax curfew conditions on a 22-year-old man who wanted more time to attend a gymnasium.

Kevin Michael Patrick Brolly from Rannyglass in Dungiven appeared before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court for a preliminary enquiry hearing.

He's charged with causing the death of Claire Kelly (19) by driving without due care and attention and when he had excess alcohol in his breath at Glenshane Road last December 11.

He's further charged with causing Ms Kelly's death while driving without insurance and with dangerous driving.

District Judge Barney McElholm refused the new bail application.

A police sergeant had told Mr McElholm that he believed the defendant would reoffend if the curfew conditions were relaxed.

The defendant was released on the same bail conditions to appear before the Crown Court for his arraignment on October 16.
