Alert caused by exploded pipe bomb: police
A suspicious object that sparked a security alert in Armagh yesterday was an exploded pipe bomb, the police have said.
The security alert at Primates Manor has now ended and all roads have re-opened.
PSNI Chief Inspector Jon Burrows said Army bomb disposal experts inspected the object, which was later declared "the remains of an exploded pipe bomb type device".
"No damage has been caused to property and there have been no reports of any injuries," he added.
Police said there had been reports of a loud bang in the area at around 1am yesterday.
Sinn Fein MLA Cathal Boylan condemned those behind the bomb.
"Those involved have showed a blatant disregard for the local community and put the lives of local people at risk," he said.
