Almost 250 new jobs created: Co Antrim electronics firm Schrader expands workforce

Almost 250 jobs are to be created at a Co Antrim electronics firm.

Schrader Electronics is investing over £56 million and creating 241 new jobs at its Carrickfergus and Antrim plants.

The jobs are to be added to the firm's workforce over the next three years.

The company currently employs around 1,000 people.

Enterprise minister Arlene Foster said the new positions would create "£7million a year in salaries and offer high value employment and training opportunities for local engineers".

"“Founded locally, Schrader Electronics has grown into a highly renowned manufacturing company, whose products are supplied to nearly every major car maker in the world.," she said.

"This is the second significant expansion by Schrader in the last three years and it is a ringing endorsement of the company’s Northern Ireland operations, which currently employ almost 1,000 people.".
