Almost 8,000 prescription drugs taken off streets of west Belfast

These are the prescription drugs the PSNI has managed to take off the streets of west Belfast.

The picture shows the contents of the PSNI Rapid drugs drop bins across the west of the city, collected in just a couple of weeks.

Officers said almost 8,000 prescription tablets have been taken off the streets as a result of the initiative.

Writing on the PSNI's west Belfast Facebook page, an officer said: "Black Mountain NPT were out today [Friday, May 11] emptying our Rapid drugs drop bins across West Belfast, including our newest addition in Holy Trinity Youth Club in Turf Lodge.

"Almost 8,000 prescription tablets have been taken off the street over the last couple of weeks! These bins are having a significant impact with tens of thousands of tablets taken off the street as a result.

"Keep using them folks, the number of kids we come across using prescription drugs for their kicks is frightening!"
