Alpaca Bambi revelling in Nativity role

By David Young

Bambi the alpaca had a non-traditional walk-on part in this year's Nativity scene at St Mary's, Chapel Lane Belfast, where parishioners organised a 'live crib' for Christmas.

The alpaca - a small breed of llama famed for its fine, valuable wool - was joined by parishioners Rosie Strutt and Sean Jordan, as well as donkeys, sheep and goats at the city centre church.

All donations to the crib will go to Tuesday's Child's Following Yonder Star Christmas Appeal, which helps children in Syria, Gaza and Kenya.

The crib can be seen until January 7.
