Andersonstown Road brawl: Two men arrested after west Belfast street fight

'All you could see was the blood everywhere. It was terrifying'

Two men have been arrested following a disturbance on the Andersonstown Road in west Belfast on Monday.

The incident, which resulted in three men being injured and taken to hospital for treatment, was reported to police at around 6.15pm.

An eyewitness told BBC Northern Ireland that hurley sticks and hammers were being used as weapons.

The eyewitness said: "They were just beating each other and they had each other down on the ground.

"All you could see was the blood everywhere. It was terrifying to see."

Two men are currently in police custody, arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

Inspector Davy McBride appealed for witnesses to contact police at Woodbourne on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
