Residents have spoken of their anger after thieves took hanging baskets and planters from their Co Down village.

Three hanging basket and eight half barrel planters from the Main Street area of Clough were taken between Friday night and Saturday morning.

"A lot of hard work went into creating these, it's deeply disappointing," said Alan Lewis in an appeal to help replace the items or have them returned.

In a Facebook post on the village's residents' association page one resident added: "Words really can't describe how angry, disappointed and upset I am.

"We had a great team of workers helping last week to fill the hanging baskets. A lot of work goes into requiring funding to purchase things to enhance our village."

Police in Downpatrick are investigating and have appealed for information.
