Anti-police protest held by dissidents at Belfast City Hall
Just 24 hours after the attempted murder of a PSNI officer in Belfast, dissident republicans chanted anti-police slogans outside City Hall.
They staged their protest last night as the Policing Board and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) met inside to discuss anti-social behaviour.
During the meeting, Chief Constable George Hamilton paid tribute to his officers.
A heavy PSNI presence surrounded City Hall as loyalists carrying Union flags staged a counter protest nearby and republicans chanted "SS RUC".
Protesters carried banners with slogans such as 'RUC/MI5 not welcome in west Belfast'.
They were hemmed in by police at one of the gates into City Hall.
The protest was organised by Saoradh, which said it is protesting against what it claims is "ongoing harassment of republican activists" by the PSNI.
