AP McCoy film is first past the post for web downloads

By Staff Reporter

A documentary film about legendary jump jockey AP McCoy has beaten Hollywood blockbusters to top the Irish iTunes film download chart.

'Being AP' follows 20-time champion jockey AP McCoy in his final season in the saddle ahead of his retirement in April this year.

The film overtook big budget motion pictures such as Ant-Man, Ted 2 and Inside Out to claim the number one spot for iTunes film downloads in Ireland on Friday.

It has since dropped, but was still in the top 10 last night.

The film tracks the Moneyglass man as injuries and age finally convince the 41-year-old to hang up his silks.

The film highlights the dedication that saw him notch up 4,300 wins, 700 falls, 40 broken bones and a BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award across a near 25-year racing career.

McCoy has also said he is somewhat of a reluctant movie star, only agreeing to take part in the film for his son. "A friend talked me into it," he added.
