Appeal after pensioner's home robbed

By Adrian Rutherford

Police have appealed for information after a burglary at the home of an elderly woman.

A mobile phone was taken during the break-in at the property at Trossachs Drive in south Belfast. The occupant was not home at the time.

The incident was reported to police at 10.40pm on Thursday.

It is the latest in a series of burglaries at the homes of elderly people.

Last week 69-year-old Clifford Mooney was beaten with a hammer, gagged and tied up at his Co Down home. It came as the Belfast Telegraph reported how 12 crimes a day are committed against our elderly.
