Appeal after robber holds up Belfast shop at knifepoint

Police in south Belfast are appealing for information after a shop was robbed by a man armed with a knife.

A member of staff was left badly shaken after the incident at the store on the upper part of the Ormeau Road, close to Knockbreda Park, on Wednesday.

A PSNI spokesman said the robbery happened at around 8.30pm when a man entered the shop armed with a knife and threatened the worker as he demanded cash from him. "A sum of money was handed over and the man made off, and may have got into a maroon-coloured car parked close by," he said.

"There were no reports of any injuries, although the staff member was left badly shaken by the incident."

The robber is described as being around 6ft tall, in his mid-20s, of skinny build and was wearing a grey hoodie and black tracksuit bottoms.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed this incident or noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them at CID in Musgrave on 0845 600 8000.

Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
