Appeal after two men injured in separate attacks
Two men have been treated for head injuries after they were assaulted in separate attacks in Belfast and Co Down.
One man has been arrested for the second assault in Kilkeel.
In the first incident, a man was punched on the back of the head in south Belfast on July 12.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the attack in the Donegall Road area at around 6pm on Friday.
Sergeant Guy Larkin said: "It was reported the victim, aged in his 40s, was punched on the back of the head and fell to the ground.
"He sustained head and facial injuries and was treated at hospital."
The sergeant appealed to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened, or who has information which could help the investigation to get in touch on 101, quoting reference number 879 13/07/19.
Meanwhile, police have made an arrest in the second incident, where a man in his 40s was treated in hospital for injuries to his head and face after he was assaulted in Kilkeel.
Police received a report at 11.25pm on Sunday that the victim had been assaulted on the Greencastle Road, close to the junction with Manse Road.
He was still in hospital yesterday.
Detective Sergeant James Johnston said: "A 34-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including grievous bodily harm with intent.
"He remains in custody assisting us with our enquiries.
"I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area prior to, or around the time the report was made to us, to get in touch with detectives at Ardmore on 101, quoting the reference 2103 14/07/19."
