Appeal as ducks are stolen from care home

By Amanda Ferguson

Police in Newtownards are keen to see a thief up before the beak after three ducks were stolen in Comber.

They have appealed for information after the trio – Angus, Jemima and Pete – were stolen from a nursing home in Castle Street.

The birds were taken between 9.30pm last Friday and 7.30am on Saturday.

The owner of the feathered friends, Kerry-Louise McDowell, is keen to see their safe return.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "Anyone who was in the area and who noticed any suspicious activity or anyone with information is asked to contact police in Newtownards on the non-emergency number 101."

The theft of the ducks comes after three parrots were stolen from Seaforde Gardens and Tropical Butterfly House, near Newcastle, on May 12. Two of the birds were handed back while the last was later recovered from a house in Newtownards.
