Appeal for information as shots fired at house

By Deborah McAleese

Police are investigating after two shots were fired at a house in the Burren Meadows area of Newcastle.

Damage was caused to a window of the house and a car parked at the property was also hit in the shooting at around 3.30am on Sunday.

The occupant was in the house at the time.

Detective Inspector David Henderson said police are currently working to establish a motive for the shooting.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the Burren Meadows area and witnessed the shooting incident or who has information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives in Ardmore on the non-emergency number 101," he said.
