Catholic Primate Archbishop Eamon Martin took a hands-on approach to the launch of Catholic Schools Week as he joined with a children's choir in the ecclesiastical capital of Armagh City to mark the event.
Catholic Schools Week runs from Sunday until February 1.
It is an all-Ireland annual event which invites Catholic schools to give expression in a special way to the ethos of Catholic education. This year's theme for the week is Catholic Schools: Called to Serve and this complements the universal Year of Consecrated Life which Pope Francis has designated for 2015.
To further mark the event, BBC Radio Ulster will broadcast Mass at 10.15am next Sunday, which will be celebrated by Bishop Donal McKeown, Bishop of Derry, from Saint Mary's Church in the Creggan in Londonderry.
