Remains of an exploded pipe-bomb type device were found during a security alert in the Primates Manor area of Armagh, police have said.
No damage was caused by the item and there have been no reports of any injuries.
The police operation took place on Thursday afternoon following reports of a loud bang at around 1am.
PSNI Chief Inspector Jon Burrows said: “ATO inspected a suspicious object which has been declared as the remains of an exploded pipe bomb type device.
“No damage has been caused to property and there have been no reports of any injuries.”
Police are investigating the incident. The remnants of the device have been taken away for further examination.
Primates Manor and part of the Rock Road have reopened.
Police have appealed for information.
