Armagh eco-homes will cost just £300 to heat and light
Northern Ireland's first zero carbon houses could cost as little as £300 a year to heat and light, Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has said.
Salter's Grange Manor – a private development of 18 spacious family homes one mile outside Armagh city centre – will be built to a zero carbon standard.
The homes built by Green Future NI will allow home owners greater control of their energy costs at a time of rising energy bills.
Speaking at the project launch, Mr Durkan said: "I have been told that the largest of the properties, a spacious 1,701 sq ft four-bedroom family home, will cost approximately £300 per year to heat and light, a significant saving when compared to the energy costs for older houses."
