Armed gang attack two men in raid

By Chris McCullough

A masked and armed gang beat two men with baseball bats and demanded cash after breaking into a house on Saturday.

Police said three men, one of them possibly carrying a gun, forced their way into the home in the Elm Street area of Belfast.

Detective sergeant Conor Sweeney added: "Three men forced their way in and assaulted the two male occupants after asking them for money. They were struck on the legs and back by baseball bats.

"It is also alleged that one of the assailants had what is believed to be a gun. Neither man required hospital treatment for their injuries. I would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact detectives."
