Armed men rob Belfast city centre beauty salon
Two armed men have stolen cash from a Belfast city centre shop in the run-up to Christmas.
The pair, who were both carrying knives, demanded money from staff at The Beauty Company on Montgomery Street at 4.35pm before making off towards May Street.
They are believed to be in their 20s, of slim build and were wearing scarves over their faces.
Today, staff at the beauty salon did not wish to comment on the incident but were still visibly shaken.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Reid said: "This occurred two weekends before Christmas at a busy time, therefore I would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact CID at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man is being questioned about a robbery at a takeaway in north Belfast.
A man carrying a knife or a hammer entered the Antrim Road fast food restaurant at 7.10pm on Saturday and ordered staff to hand over money. He left with a sum of cash. Police have appealed for witnesses.
