Armed robbers force pregnant woman to floor
Five staff including a pregnant woman were forced to lie on the floor during an armed robbery at an east Belfast restaurant.
A gang of five men in black clothing, some of whom carried guns, burst into Neill’s Hill Brasserie shortly after midnight on Friday night.
The men threatened the staff, including the restaurant’s manager, who is pregnant, and forced them to lie on the floor.
The robbers then made off on foot with money from the Ballyhackamore restaurant, which used to be known as Aldens and is run by the Davis family.
Ulster Unionist councillor Jim Rodgers said he was getting “increasingly concerned” about the number of robberies in east Belfast.
“I understand the staff were deeply traumatised but I hope they will soon recover,” he said.
Police said they were looking at all lines of inquiry.
DUP MLA Robin Newton said: “I have no doubts this experience will not deter the management and staff from carrying on their business. However, the owners and the young staff need the support of everyone who is concerned about crimes of this type against local shops, pubs and restaurants.”
