Masked men armed with a crowbar and hammer have robbed a Belfast takeaway.

It happened at premises on Lisburn Road at about 6am on Tuesday.

The robbers, who were dressed in dark clothing and gloves, stole a safe containing an undisclosed sum of cash.

A male member of staff aged in his 20s was not injured.

Detectives are appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Nigel Snoddy, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, said: "I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 126 of 13/09/16."
