Armed thieves steal money and cigarettes from Belfast shop

Police are appealing for information after two men, one armed with a hammer, robbed a shop in west Belfast.

The robbery happened on Tuesday, March 27 at around 9.15pm.

The pair entered the shop on Suffolk Road and took a sum of money and a quantity of cigarettes before taking off on foot in the direction of steps leading towards Glenveagh Park.

No members of staff suffered injuries as a result of the incident.

The man with the hammer was wearing light grey tracksuit bottoms, a light grey hooded top, a black scarf, dark-coloured trainers with white soles, a dark-coloured hat and gloves.

The second man wore a distinctive coat which was bright yellow with dark-coloured sleeves and hood and white cuffs.

Detectives have asked anyone with information which could assist their enquiries to contact them at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1464 27/03/18.

Information can alternatively also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime
