Arrest after 2,000 litres of illegal fuel seized
A 34-year-old man has been arrested following the seizure of 2,000 litres of illegal fuel in Co Armagh.
The laundered diesel was seized by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on Tuesday morning.
It was discovered after a van carrying two plastic tanks was stopped by police on the M1 near Lurgan.
A sample of the fuel has been sent for chemical analysis.
A Co Armagh man arrested in relation to the find has since been released on police bail.
John Whiting of HMRC appealed for the public's help in uncovering illegal fuel production.
"The production of illicit fuels is organised fraud, robbing taxpayers of millions each year in unpaid duty and VAT as well as the waste
by-product damaging the environment," he said.
