Arrest after Belfast shop robbed at gunpoint

A man has been arrested after an armed robbery at a shop in west Belfast.

The 22-year-old male is being questioned in connection with the raid at the store on Caffrey Avenue.

Shortly before 9.30pm on Tuesday a man carrying a suspected firearm entered the shop and threatened a member of staff and demanded money from the till and cigarettes. He made off with cash and cigarettes.

Detective Sergeant Adam Ruston appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to come forward.

They can contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1341 of 27/02/18.

DS Ruston added: "Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
