Three people have been arrested after a Belfast petrol station robbery.

Two men and a woman entered the Crumlin Road business at around 1am on Tuesday, April 21.

The woman, it was reported, approached the counter and asked a female member of staff to count her change, as the two males entered an office in the premises.

As the males left the office, it is believed they made off with a sum of money and a quantity of cigarettes towards the Hopewell Avenue area.

The staff member was not injured, but was assaulted as the three people left the premises, police said.

A short time later, two males aged 33 and 22 years old and a 19-year-old female were arrested in relation to the incident and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Police appealed for anyone with information to contact 101, quoting reference number 90 21/04/20.

Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
