By Rebecca Black

The sun may have been out yesterday but the rain is expected to continue this week making it a wet, wet, wet end to February.

The Met Office has forecast temperatures slumping to 4C today with winds of up to 15 miles per hour and a possibility of hail and thunder.

A spokesman for MeteoGroup weather group said there could be up to 5mm of rain and described the week as unsettled with rain and showers.

He said further showers are expected tomorrow, but they may dry up by evening.

Thursday is set to be the coldest and also the driest day of the week, but it will only be a brief respite, with showers expected to return on Friday. Temperatures are expected to drop to 2C at the end of the week

The weekend may get colder with a chance of frost and ice.
