A pizza delivery driver was robbed at knifepoint in Ballymena.

The robbery happened at around 2.30am on Saturday as the driver was making a delivery at an address in the Lanntara area of the town.

He was approached by two men, one armed with a knife, and assaulted. The knife was held close to his face.

The men made of with cash, a pizza hot box and two pizzas, while the delivery driver sustained minor injuries to his face and hands.

Detective Sergeant Lyttle said: “The men are described as being in their mid-20s, wearing tracksuits and spoke with local accents.

“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact Police/detectives in Ballymena on 101, quoting reference number 349 of 28/07/19.”
