Ballymena yob avoids jail over McDonald's cookie assault

By Staff Reporter

A man who stole a 99p cookie from a McDonald's restaurant in Ballymena threw it, hitting a manageress, while threatening to shoot staff, a court has heard.

Ricky Carlin (43), with an address at the Lighthouse hostel in the town's Linenhall Street, became disorderly and was verbally abusive to staff at around 3.45am on December 4.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court yesterday the defendant was sentenced for the theft of the cookie, assault and disorderly behaviour. He also pleaded guilty to being disorderly on two other occasions in October last year.

He was given a four-month jail term, suspended for two years, and banned from McDonald's in Ballymena for two years.
