Ballymoney crash: Schoolboy (9) in 'serious condition' following Toberdoney Road collision

A boy is in a serious condition following a collision on the Toberdoney Road in Liscolman, Ballymoney.

The Northern Ireland ambulance service said he was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast following the incident at around 4.15pm on Tuesday.

It is thought the 9-year-old is a pupil at the at Straidbilly Primary School.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 70’s, was arrested and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the Toberdoney Road and who witnessed the collision to contact officers in Ballymoney on 101 quoting reference number 719 of 10/01/17.

The Toberdoney Road remains closed.
