Bangor attack: 'Serious sexual assault' on woman in her 20s, PSNI appeals for witnesses

The PSNI is appealing for witnesses following a serious sexual assault in the Bangor area during the early hours of Saturday morning.

A woman, aged in her 20’s, was walking along High Street shortly before 2am when she was offered a lift home by two unknown males.

The woman walked into Holburn Avenue Car Park and got into the rear seat of the car. The car is described as a 3 door, Silver car, possibly a VW Golf.

It had plain black fabric seat covers and a 'Black Ice Magic Tree' air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror. The internal panel of the passengers’ door was missing. The car had been seen driving around Bangor playing loud music last night.

They drove out of the car park and travelled towards Groomsport. The males stopped the car in a dark area and the woman was sexually assaulted.

The male passenger is described as being approximately 5’4” tall, of large build, with a round face and brown coloured messy hair. The driver is described as being of thin build, with a skinhead type haircut and scruffy ginger coloured beard.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone who was in the Bangor area last night and who saw two males in a silver coloured car to contact them at Ladas Drive on the non-emergency number 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
